A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

we will remember

"

Poppies --

the colour of
death

the colour of
remember --

standing guard
at cenotaphs
somebody's baby
not allowed
to make the trip.

my babies
will go with me.

never mind the cold
and the rain.

on this day we remember
their pain.

never to live it
again.

Author's Note

Lyn Anderson
Poppies are red, not white. Even as we pray for peace we must remember
the hell of war. Banning cadets from going to the cenotaphs was the wrong
move this year. Stand tall, stand proud. I will take my kids out of school and
bring them myself. 11/11/2014

Would that such remembrances meant we wouldn't live it again…

Yes, that would be the hope.
I have changes my mind considerably in the past few months and the reality is that support is the best way to show what you think. True about the poppies, what a decisive image turns out to be. Sadly here the schools beat you to itas they take them as a day out and make a big thing out of it.

Thankyou

Why on Earth would they ban cadets?
A very moving and powerful little poem you have here.

It's the local cadet associations, who feel it is unsafe. It is a very sad state of affairs indeed.

Yes that is so very sad. Unsafe is a lame excuse.
It is a shame when our own leaders shame and disrespect our country and the hero's who fought and died for a better tomorrow. There is no easy road to freedom. There is no brighter tomorrow when we disrespect the past.
Obviously a sore topic for me with our current "leadership".

Thank you, yes, I know. More should be attending the Cenotaph, not less.
I am reminded of "In Flanders Fields" with this one.

Indeed. We must never forget.

It is the power of terror. I am deeply saddened by its impact.
