A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

a little laugh

"
I opened the
drawer.

a final irony --
my intentions
were to melt
the things
you bought
for me,

liquidate gold
to cash,
a fraction
of its real worth,
but infinitely more
than you gave to me.

I laughed.
the box was
empty.

you beat me
to it,
of course.

Thank you. I appreciate it.
I like Noel's comment. So insightful and artfully accurate. What a jerk! Just when you think a person can't sink any lower, and they surpass all slimeball distinctions. Great writing, KLG!

Thank you. It is what it is as the lame saying goes
You get a bit of the war of the roses feel to this, one trying to out do the other.

Brutal! Did he really takle your stuff? As always you put an ordinary occurence into verse with such droll vigour that it has deep impact.

Good song and amazing poetry.

I like the way you led to the ending. A lesson here. Don't be the last to know. Love is gone, protect the valuables. Thank you for sharing the excellent poem dear Poet.
