pawned

pawned

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

a little laugh

"
I opened the
drawer.

a final irony --
my intentions
were to melt
the things
you bought
for me,

liquidate gold
to cash,
a fraction
of its real worth,
but infinitely more
than you gave to me.

I laughed.
the box was
empty.

you beat me
to it,
of course.

betrayal always hurts.. even if expected... karma is one thing that comforts me in times like this.. he lost the best thing he will ever have..

Ah yes, knew it before I looked I think. That's why I could only laugh.

Love this! Short and brutal, charming and eloquent. Made me giggle but hurt for the writer.

Ah well. Lessons learned.
A perfect scene for Inroy to unravel as not only in intentions did he abuse your acceptance he alsoshowed in in a concrete and tangible manner through the precence of gold. The irony laughable of course. The intention deplorable.

Thankyou

Thanks so much. I appreciate it.
geez, you not only broke my heart and left my emotions melted...you beat me to melting the gold gifts too..

all the better...now i have nothing to remember you by, since you are nothing to me now.

perfect irony...your memory has been totally pawned, and when i think of you will do none other than "yawn."
