I ain't asking for much

I ain't asking for much

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

no beauty or pearls here

"
I never needed
promises neither
of us believe
we can keep,

I don't want much
more than arms
softly in to
I can weep.

ain't asking
for forevers,
that's always
a lie.

just want
a little more
than a temporary
high.

Wish
I could give you
What you need
Without a second thought
To myself
KL.

For you deserve
More than this
Life has dealt you.

Maybe
This marks
A new beginning
You have sought
Without realizing it.

never heard of that song.. it is pretty cool.. have to admit.. am a rocker by nature, can't help it, so when saw the title this song immediately popped into my head.. can't help it.. lol

now, on to this poem.. first off, it is short, concise, brilliantly expressed, and powerful...(yet has a level of vulnerability layered within the strength---which isn't easy to do.)... the ending as always is a knock out.. I can relate to all but the second stanza... agree wholeheartedly with the forevers being a lie.. at least in my experiences.. anyway.. love every line and meaning in those three stanzas.. torn on the other.. either way, outstanding writing as always girl.. very powerful.

All I ever ask for is someone to love me unconditionally and to challenge me in ways that I cannot challenge myself. I am content in knowing, that I have found that someone. This certainly speaks to that. Elegant and to the point.

Thank you as always appreciated
Commitment yeah really ellusive thing. What we say in front of the altar and later while we are complately wasted is not exactly based in a lot of wisdom. How quickly we for get without even going into the realm of faithfullness. Yet you let us know that you want commitment and not just a fleeting passing thing.

Could the right candidate please step up to the podium please?

Thankyou

Thank you. As always.
Sometimes the promise is easier to keep when it is made with someone that loves you as much as you love them

Enjoyed this

Perhaps. Truth told I wouldn't know. It's always been uneven one way or the other
Nice use of thoughts. It is sad we learn to accept less with age and time. I believe we learn. Real love is a person willing to accept our good days and bad days without complaining. Thank you my dear friend for sharing the excellent poetry.

Thank you very much
short and beautiful. you have limited the "wants", making it seem so real..and true. there is no greed of wanting more love in this poem which makes it so unique. thanks for sharing your awesome poetry.
