Spoils the bunch?

Spoils the bunch?

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

a poem for Caradoc, pardon me sir, for encouraging the romantic cynic in you.

"
An apple a day
keeps the
doctor away
or so they say,

but what if
that one
apple spoils
the bunch?

the first was
rotten
but not quite
to the core,

the second was sexy,
and sweet,
but left me
needing more ...

                       the third
                       was
                       just
                       a snack

and the last
had a knack
for disguising
the worms underneath ...

but there are so
many flavours
and colours
and varieties,

you just
can't fight it
you just
gotta bite it

and hope the
next is not
the poison one
to do you in.

Recently, I have eaten more apples and this poem resonates so much more. So many common expressions weaved together so seamlessly. I like this so much.

Thank you very much
What a unique way to say that we need to take life one day at a time and take chances with love in order to find the flavor that best suits you.

Twas my pleasure young lady.
Apples indeed … strange how a taste of the sweetest can leave the most sour and lingering aftertaste.

the second was sexy,
and sweet,
but left me
needing more …

I do believe there is some of the romantic cynic in me too:)

They say once bitten twice shy, and I have been bitten a few more times than that ...:)
That's why I stick with tangerines...easy to peel and so very juicy. :) Just kidding my friend, though I do like the word "tangerine". Fun one KLGoode. I guess good poetry doesn't fall far from the tree.

You are definately feeling 'fruity' with this one It did shock me to the 'core' as I related closely to it and could here the 'peel' of bells of past disasters myself lol!

Hear even!
Amusing and pointed themes. I like the way you've shared the fraught path to love in such a light-hearted way.

*thrown, I meant...
Hilarious, I am not sure if this was meant to be funny but if not I apologize. This made me laugh. It is humorous to the point were one could begin the sequential avalanche of Ladies / Gents pending on taste or Both if so inclined and going, Nope too sweet, to bitter, too sickly..... at this rate there won't be any more fish in the sea.

Thankyou
