for the first time

no regrets

snippets of conversations,
you never miss
a thing --

though people wouldn't know it,
you have this way
of hiding

your thoughts in places
where people
don't look --

you know I am
more aware
than most --

I know they hurt you,
took you for granted;
used you --

and so you
sought something
safe, just like me --

and somehow
we found something
we both fear --

but don't regret.

It is so interesting that after a meeting with someone one and after the exprience settles you can start to see a thread. In here it seems that the encouner led to a relatioship and that led to recognition. Well together in fear now that is something new but all the same together.

No, I knew that, but the minute I saw "regret" that tune came to mind, it has probably been 30 years since I heard it. Sometimes my reviews are just about how it hit me, what the poem meant to me. I can't tell the difference between iambic pentameter and haiku, but I know when something touches me, in some way.
