don't grow up so soon baby

don't grow up so soon baby

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

a song prompt from Noel

"
baby looks at me
at the breakfast table,
says she wants
a great big house
and a dog of her own.

doesn't want no man
no kids to tie her down.
gonna be a big time lawyer,
like the lady down the street.

hold on baby, mom says,
wipe the chocolate off your chin,
let's get grade two over with,
before you begin ...

Childhood is bliss, as is watching them grow and blossom. My son is eight, still some time to go before he flies, we can only hope we give them wings.

This is lovely.

Beccy.

Thank you. Kids similar ages. Yes, I just hope she settles down and tries to be young for a bit.
Those big dreams... may she fulfill them all! This is a sweet and vivid slice of a parent-child moment, KL.

It is an endless cycle in history… kids want to be adults, then when they are they want to be young again and tell their kinds don't be in such a hurry, enjoy, but they still want to grow up now and the cycle goes on.

Yes, you are right of course, but maybe, just maybe, she'll stay younger a little longer.
It's cute what some kids come out with and how they are so innocent and think of life as "fun" I used to babysit this baby - I had known her since birth - and she turned 4 before I left the country, she turned around to me and said she would be rich and famous. HA! It's so cute... I love her, she is so big now. This reminded me of her. Thank you for that.

I know. But I really wish she would stop reaching and just be a kid. You are only a kid once.:)

What a moment this I encounter this sor of situation some times. Esther shall we wash your hair? I ask , No , sorry I am dancing , Can't you see? It is in my eyes a never ending, inhexaustible wisdom of childlike wonderment. In here what is to become as the central theme and surely enough an unexpected view on it.

Heart warming

Thankyou

Who knows what path we end up on. There are so many variables in life you just never know what opportunities await.

Yes, I agree. I think some kids, myself included, don't enjoy being a kid while they can.
That is funny, kids know exactly what they want to be when they grow up. At least 50 different career paths, but they know for sure! This song fits the poem quite well. Love it!
