wishy washy

wishy washy

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

open minded or too flexible?

"
You always said I was
wishy washy.

Funny, you are the only
man I ever met
to complain about
my flexibility.

I watch,
I learn,
I absorb.

What I believed yesterday,
I may not see today.
I was built to meet others
half way.

I may dislike you,
but if you have a valid point,
I will take it into
consideration ...

am I this
or am I that?

I am neither,
I am both.

I am always willing
to see
what's on the other
side of the equation.

You think that made me
a liar --
wishy washy.

I think it makes me
me.

In keeping with the theme of poem, the stanza numbers are entirely my own thought
This song is the song I think mostly describes me and I love to dance to it

Having regard for the thoughts and needs of others is far from wishy washy infact taking the opposite road shows a lack of backbone to my mind! Well written.

Thanks so much. Yes, I often wonder why some people see it as a weakness, to be persuaded otherwise .. read more

Thanks so much. I am generally a very direct writer. Some might think that simple and boring.

Not at all! :)
Very relatable and true. You are so right. We all have to see the other side of the equation and that does not make us wishy washy...Bravo, again...:)....................

If that wishy washy then I'm a big fan.
But I think you're just you, and you're totally fair.

Well I have seriously limited my friends list to those whose work I really enjoy. It keeps RRs down.
there is a difference in changing your opinions and perceptions, and changing your character and your morals.. some don't get that... I have to say, not what I was expecting.. mark and I did a collab few days ago and titled ours the same and went totally the other direction.. I have to say though, I can relate to yours just as much.. I have been called the same for similar reasons.. I never understood why though....

Thanks, it's because people who are close minded believe they are right, and righteous.
We do continually grow everyday and our views can change due to certain experiences or knowledge we obtain. It is not really wishy washy, it is called being open minded.

I appreciate it. Yes, I agree. Stick in muds tend not to see it that way.

Well let the mud dry around them and they will wind up stuck alone.
Exactly! I know how this goes all too well. People used to say that about me on occasion. This is spot on, dear. You expressed exactly what some of us "wishy-washy" people might be thinking. :)

'I watch, I learn, I absorb.' Sounds flexible enough to me.

Having an open mind, and a willingness to change ones position or thinking if is a strong point in my book. Well expressed here.
