joy in me

joy in me

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

for Momzilla's poetry challenge pertaining to finding joy in your now

"
I tried to write an acrostic,
and it was a dud.

I tried to express it in a flowing soliloquy,
and it fell with a thud.

I just can't fake it,
even when I want to.

but what I can say is
I do find joy in the little things:

the touch of my child's hand
or the look in her eyes
when she stuffs homemade
pancakes into her silly face ...

sand between my toes,
or an ocean breeze,
the crunch of gravel
beneath my shoes as I run

"peace be with you"
kneeling in a pew,
shaking my neighbour's
hand in church

belly rubs for a clumsy
overgrown German Shepherd,
who likes to
roll on the floor

and the smile
my lover gives me
when I tell him
I want more ...

sharing poetry,
laughter, wine, and song;
some of the things
that help me along.

                                    joy.

Thanks. I struggled with this one a bit until I just let me be me and didn't try to force it.

What an endearing feeling and who am I to disagree? Surely if you share and you connect and find a group of interested people that unite in ideals that is something that can only bear goodness.

Peace be with you too KL just donlt squeeze my hand so tight you beast!

Thankyou

I think this is a realistic portrayal as we often draw our joy from the small stuff even when the big stuff is giving us grief.
