something more than coffee

something more than coffee

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

A tribute to the writer Chris -- the one whose words and thoughts are all his own

"
An email.
A smile.
A perception.
He offered me
a taste.
Bitter coffee hot
with tears --
wars and dreams, loves lost
and wondered,
hearts held and pondered,
life as a calm breath
and a quiet whisper
listening ...
being in the moment
touching everything
and nothing
all at once.
reaching a flourish
of mind and
love and happiness
Wholeness --
of soul
Real.
        You.

Yes, and specifically for Chris, if, you have never had the pleasure of reading him, you should.
Those who stimulate our mind are the ones we need to keep in our life… what a great ode to a wonderful poet. He certainly has a style all his own.

I am glad you liked.
Something more indeed and if coffee doesn't do it for you then this certainly will. I love this "wars and dreams" what an image, like life blooming from a fresh flower, death like a decaying, brittle, dried rose. I don't know that I have ever cried into my coffee but If I had suffered what, through him, you have, I think, just maybe that I might. None the less like the image it invokes. Cuddled up in a soft, warm, over-stuffed chair and he brings you a hot, bitter cup, but somehow he is smug about it, almost as if he wants to steal it back. but it reminds you of that which he has already taken, thus you begin to cry. I would still drink the coffee though, but that is the addict in me talking. Beautiful piece. It truly touched me to read this one.
