this may offend some people, sorry, but the accommodations made for kids with violent behaviours just because they are smart and have "special needs" hurt all the kids who have to deal with them.
Cute as a button and smart as a whip, and when he has your full attention, he'll grab the keyboard, and smash your kid's face.
He spits at the teacher, he yells and he screams, he holds the kids hostage, at least that's how it seems.
I asked his mother, she says, "what can I do?" last week I caught him with a cat in the oven, I told him that it isn't very nice, I even made sure by telling him twice.
Everyone has a right to an education, that's what the principal said. Is that what they are going to say when my kid is dead?
I have always loved the intensity and passion in this song, mixed with the unfortunate and powerful message make for quite the combination.... I have often wondered the same thing.... parents wonder how their kids grow up the way they do, but stand by while they get more twisted and violent... one of my biggest pet peeves... be a parent for fks sake!!! people wanna tell you not to hit your child, I am sorry, if I had one I would beat their a*s if they did some of the things I see kids get away with... they need discipline and guidance... sorry, you have hit a nerve with this write ma'am, can you tell?.. lol
anyways, before I go off on another rant, let me say awesome piece... and I agree!! (if you couldn't tell)

This wouldn't happen in most schools anymore but it does in some where good intentions are misplaced or administrators haven't got the balls to stand up to parents that want their children integrated into a regular classroom setting. I agree with accommodations but the behaviours need to be evaluated with the school administrators, district social workers and board psychometrist, along with the parents. I whole heartedly agree that safety of the other kids in the class/school should be top priority. Also feel for the child with issues but too many parents fail to see their children the way others see them so kids they don't get the help they need until it's often too late. Such a touchy subject but I blame the adults for not managing the situation they way it should be managed.

Pretty soon he will be the only kid in the class. Our school has 30 percent "special needs" 3 of the kids are prone to violent outbursts that result in class and even school evacuations. In my view, it requires a policy change. Accommodating at the expense of everyone else is not right. As it is, this child only attends 3 days per week. That means his first violent outburst was his third day of school. I aim to do something about it rather than be forced from the school.

It's the administrators in this case, trying to create a one size fits all environment does not help the kids with special needs, nor the rest of the kids without learning accommodations. No one wins and I would fighting back too. It's what good parents do.
I know this one too well, being PC these days hinders us in some ways....what of the kids who follow the rules and don't put your life at risk, I'm not sure what the answer is but letting them get away with these infractions and not any consequences whatsoever, is a serious accident waiting to happen.

I mean, after all, if he sets fire to the school, can he come back because he is "special?" I feel badly about what I am plotting, but I plan to have my way on this one, because I have had enough. This is the fourth year and the violence has escalated and it is only the first week of school. I will call in the higher ups and the media if need be, and unfortunately, it may end up being some other school's problem, but if so, so be it.

Sounds like he's in the wrong place...probably needs to be reevaluated.
Modern times call for modern troubles. I went to an incredibly backwards school for some years and got myself into trouble for asking one too many questions. Some of my mates in trouble too. Some of them with behaviour not disimilar to what has been expressed here. Mostly a concequence of lack or non existent love at home or worse. School was the play ground bu also salvation from the nightmares of life. My constant questioning forced the teachers to recommend that I would be better suited to a more freer style of education. Ironically enough the change to a non traditional education brought about peace. I do wonder what became of the torubled kids.
A situation in need of help here.
Thankyou

But I am tired of the whole room having to duck while he does as he pleases because he is "special". The flip side of it is, are we teaching inclusiveness, or are we teaching if you act up you will get your way?

In my days it was comply or leave. That did not help much. I kept leaving . Lol
When I was in school a kid like this would have been out in about 5 seconds.

Everyone has a protocol to file out of the room and have him melt down with five teachers and assistants making sure he is "safe". I took my kid out of a violent situation. Now she gets to experience at school thanks to all inclusive B.S. at public school.
I agree with your sentiments here KL, we have seen that ourselves in our kids' school classes. In the rush to be all inclusive, the rights of the majority get ignored, and all suffer.
Certainly accommodations have to be made, adjustments, and allowances, but there needs to be common sense.
We dealt with this in high school, and were told the kid that threatened to kill our son, and meant it, was to be tolerated as he came from a broken home.
I told the principal that was bullshit, and either the kid goes, or we pulled our honor student out of his school, which would have killed the football team.
BTW the football team tuned in the punk, problem was solved, he transferred.

Walking down the hall to a concert one evening, kids were greeting me and my wife, as we were involved in the community. The a*s comments to me, "It looks like you know more kids in my school than I do." I withered him with "That sounds like your personal problem then." My opinion of the majority of school admin is lower than a snake belly in a wagon rut.
