in a moment's kiss

in a moment's kiss

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

in a breath, in a whisper, life can turn in a direction unexpected. Insomnia brought someone back into my life I haven't heard from in a long time. It's been a crazy day ...

"
a moment's kiss --
a message from the present
flips her instantly
to a long ago
that wasn't
but should have been.

and the way he did it,
made her smile --
forgive me?

she has lived through
the unforgiveable
since then --

grade school wishes
to high school loves,
they were too young,
too stupid to see,
what would
come to be ...

whole lifetimes
in between
swallowed up

on a day,
when wistful songs
become softest dreams;
an instant clash
of past and present
misty memory.

It is funny how things can suddenly pop up that drag you back to yesterdays that seemed so far away and then feel like yesterday... weird how that works... this one has a whimsical feel, a "dreamy" sort of tone that I like seeing from you ma'am... it still has that strength and the 'tude in there, but also a sweet lining trying to peek through... lovely as always...

Thank you so much
I wonder sometimes about a couple of my exes from high school years, where they are, did they marry...
I had some bad ones but they weren't all bad. Thanks for the reminder. :)

Yes exactly, they aren't all bad.
I know this song, and by that I mean your rhyme, if you know what I mean, that last stanza is a poem all it's own. Never pictured you an ABBA fan. :)

Funny, I sent you that video link the other day in reference to a completely different situation, how fitting it is for this new conundrum.
Well written.

KL, those spaces inside things, they haunt sometimes in good ways, sometimes not... seems that friends never forget and always ask where are they?? What are they up to?? I know I have done this a number of times... I like how this unfolds KL, it does change tenses, but it isn't a distraction, it adds to the flow and "whole lifetimes in between swallowed up"... this is why I like poetry, 3 short and sweet lines and a whole novel could be filled with those "lifetimes"...

anyway, i'm dropping this one into my favorites but not in the "paaaaiiiinnnn" folder.. ;-p

Ah, but who you both are now because of that time, is so much more. Would you have been to each other, as now, or but a shadow of who you both were back then.
