I hate being right

I hate being right

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

for my ex, who thought the opposite, but he is a dumb-a*s

"
I remember how you always
used that tone with me
(you always have to be right, don't you?)
and the hell of it was,
I was.

I am not saying I like it.
I just have a knack for
seeing the writing on the wall.

I knew dad's indigestion,
was more like heart congestion,
and he's here today, because of me.

I knew the spots before mom's eyes,
were a little more than she realized,
and thanks to me, she can still see

And then there was Grampa.
I knew before I picked up the phone,
Gramma had called him home.

And if I look deep inside me,
I always knew,
the only person you ever loved
was you.

I hate to be wrong, but it's even worse to be right.

Thaty was a deep reflection of a soul your own that is. Selective memory allows us to put off what we long have known but dont want to face. This poem has a truth i cannot deny.

Thank you so much, I appreciate the read and your thoughts.
Intuition is a tricky thing KL.
There is a thin line between picking up on the subtlety of the Universe and being a bit paranoid...
Also there is this self fulfilling prophesy thing in human behavior. We get what we expect. Not what we deserve, but usually if not always what we expect.
Anyhow, there is a books worth of philosophical exploration on this topic.
I like how you took experiences from your life and layered them into something else entirely...
In a way , we are all always right, at the core of our expectations at least.
I really like this topic and I enjoyed your rant here. :)

Wow, good thing he's an ex then.

As human beings we all make mistakes, no one can be perfect 100% of the time. I hate it when it's win or lose, right or wrong, that's so stupid and in this case could have had dire consequences.

Hope all is well.

Thanks for your thoughts.
Hey there KL... part of the male ego is the need to always be right, no matter what who why or when... so when a woman is actually right, (which in some cases is almost all the time) they get all bent out of shape and then make that "(you always have to be right, don't you?)" remark.. this is just another way of showing disrespect and saying "shut the F up"....
if he is not able to see whats wrong with this outlook and attitude, then it is right to dump his a*s...

no one wants to be wrong, but that is usually determined by what is true or not, and not just who has said it... and if wrong, then learn from it, why you thought these things and then correct them... it maybe painful at times to say you are wrong, but why should we want to be wrong??? hurtful??? dominating???

Sorry KL once again I get carried away thinking about the things in your poems... Hope your mom and dad are still around to enjoy those kids...
