I deserve forgiveness

I deserve forgiveness

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

getting over it and standing tall

"
There are days
my anger
overwhelms me,

and I wrap myself in bitter,
like an itchy wool coat
I cannot bring myself to give away.

But I am trying
to forgive you,
not because
you deserve it,
but because
I do.

I am working on it.:)
Forgiveness is a tough thing to give away - like trust. Though, they are not the same. For example, I could forgive someone, but never trust them again. I accept the past and move forward. This is powerful. Forgiveness isn't always for the person who did wrong, but for the person who needs to move forward. Hang in there, KL! xo :)

Exactly, and thank you.
Forgiveness is a tough one but you nailed it.
You have to do it for YOU.
Because it you don't, it's not them that suffer, it's you. You're thoughts, memories, feelings will never rest.
It's a tough thing for sure babe. xx
But you are one tough brave girl with a very strong character.

Yes, you do....harboring hate and venom only hurts you. Never forget, but do forgive. The simile of the wool coat here is stunning. Lydi**

I am trying, and that is all I can do.:)
Words of wisdom KL, reminds of that quote 'Holding onto anger/a grudge is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die' something like that, there are so many variations. You indeed deserve it.

Perhaps you need to serve him up some Hemlock. :)
Like the saying goes:" To err is human, to forgive is Divine." and that entails forgiveness of the self. A wonderful poem here KL.

You are welcome.
one of those difficult little secrets of life .. we must forgive to live .. and then there is the Divine part of course .. forget .. which to the best of my knowledge and experience is impossible for us ;) .. your second verse is just the right metaphor .. pretty brilliant says i! .. i can even smell it .. that tinge of musty that is always there ..we keep wearing it no matter ... love love love it!

Oh thank you so much, I really appreciate it.
That all embracing anger it is something that most of the times blinds me. It is great to see that you can get by without letting you be manipulated it. The last lines is what deserves a moment or two. Indeed a new lease on life should be a given.

Onwards and upwards.

Thankyou
