Cougar boots and Jellies

Cougar boots and Jellies

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

you will see where this is going

"
There was a day
when only Cougar boots
like Sandy's would do,
and then there were Jellies,
Patent Pumps,
Puma, and Kangaroo.

There was a day
when only a man with the
devil in him caught my eye.
I thought I could fix him
and when I couldn't, I
thought I would die.

I don't know what happened to Sandy,
but I do know what happened to you.
those Cougar boots been
out of style since 1982,
and so have all the things
bad boys do.

Love the song...I still like to spin the Best of Blondie at home once in a while, or play the disc in the car when I'm cruising on summer days ;)

Have you read my poem The Talking Sheep? I can't remember if you have, but if not, I hope you'll take a look at it cuz it's the most fitting review I can offer to this piece...let's just say that this poem struck a nerve with me...if poetry is about emotion, you just brought lots of emotion to me...great job my friend.

I am so glad. And yes, oddly, this is an emotional poem, despite its surface glibness.

I picked Blondie, because she reminds me of my Cougar boots.
A quick little write that manages to express a great deal. Well done for something between appointments. Caught one little thing "and then there (were) the Jellies, etc

Thanks, and at my age, I like being called a kid.:)
You said it sister...but of course theres more then one kind of bad boy. Some just appear to be bad or they are misunderstood. I know the ones of which you speak. Been there more then once...sigh...x

Wow. This is profound and sad yet seems to express enlightenment and understanding. Don't dampen the fire though!
