A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

wiping away death

"
This morning I
wiped the rest
of you away

        quietly,
        without a fuss.

The blankets
are on the line,
floor mopped;
kennel flat.

Fold the bill up,
wait for the
statement
to come in.

Rocks in the ground,
mulch,
a marker;
done.

This is powerful in describing what needs to be done after the loss, yet underneath it all, there is still a lingering pain. Great write, KL! xo :)

Hey, thanks, nice to see you.
A part of my yard, I live in the country, is a pet graveyard. Dogs, cats, hampsters and a few unflushed goldfish. They become a part of you at least I think they do. Maybe the good part.

You are most welcome KL. BIG hugs
A sad poem. Our animals are dear to us. Always hard to bury the pets who kept us company wanting so little. Thank you for sharing the poem.

I've buried my share of beloved pets over the years, so I related to your words very much!
Hard realities, the chore that come with death - pet or person. Dealing with these with such practicality is healthy, and gives you something to hold on to... So sorry for this loss, KL. Been there...

Thanks. Many of us have been, of course, and that is why it is worth sharing, in my view.

Thanks for taking the time, and I appreciate it.
Ah at least you know a pet is a pet and move on and say it with panache!

This is very heart wrenching. :(
It's a difficult thing to accept, death.

Doing those chin ups as we speak. Pride versus peace of mind. It appears the latter will win out

Haha … I did read but I'm good:)
I think we all would like to do this after we get our hearts broken,,, we can try to bury the past but eventually the memories will sprout from the ground as either weeds or roses.
