a plate of apathy

a plate of apathy

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

something I just thought of

"
he prepared me
a plate of
apathy,
dressed as love.

it was garnished with
all the
accoutrements
a girl could want:

lies
treachery
insults
anger
lechery
sloth
jealousy

for dessert he
served me
selfish,
with a cherry on top.

No wonder
I vomited
it all back up
on his shoe.

ha ha ha I had to do it. This has been modified slightly in keeping with the foodie theme, thanks Delmar, it's different than what I said, different that what you suggested, and better, I think than both of us thought.

accoutrements has two c's.; an odd word choice, but one that I always get a chuckle out of--for some reason it always reminds me of 'excrement'.
Your final stanza in particular fascinated me; I actually had an image of a dog puking up stuff on a shoe, probably since 'most' people don't look at a shoe as an ideal thing to vomit into.
But beyond the obvious humour, I enjoyed the meaning in that final stanza. The idea of rejecting another's indifferent selfishness, and seeking your own way.
