caught in her brambles

caught in her brambles

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

For Frieda

"
Caught in her brambles
of apostrophological
madness
wishing I could have
a cup of java
with her
and alleviate
her sadness --
hearts of metaphor
wrapped inside
a cherish'd
sweetness
poetic princess
lullabye.

                       perhaps she knows
                       how to get these
                       damn'd things
                       out of my hair.

Author's Note

Lyn Anderson
ah, it's for Frieda, and I don't care if the rest of you get it.
The hardest thing was picking a song -- in the end I picked a song that Frieda would know is one hundred percent ME

This is the second thing I've reviewed this morning that is for/about Freida, a testament to her lasting memory around here. I did not know her but I feel as if I do, with all the tributes penned. I love the brambles metaphor, along with the final fun statement about getting them out of your hair (possibly representing how longtime WritersCafe friends cannot get Freida out of their hair). Most of all, I love the line: "wishing I could have . . . alleviated her sadness" becuz that's how I feel about many mournful friends here in the Café.
