She just looks that way

She just looks that way

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

inspired by the song and a run in with a superficial beach bum "come to Jesus" barbie

"
Pursed lips and perfect cheeks,
hanging out on the upper beach.
breasts pressed and fluffed
and paid for working on her back,
she now spends her time judging
what others lack.
asks us to come to Jesus
like we ever left --
she dipped her toes in muddy water,
Jesus cured her Herpes didn't ya know?
and service is on Sundays for all the
ne'er do wells,
don't cha want to join her,
before you go to hell?
thanks Barbie for the invitation,
I smile at her as I down
another libation,
but I'll chose my own path
to salvation.

Ha ha! Lovely. Im hooked. Have heard these Bible thumpers ever so often telling us how sinful we are. As for me I know they have reserved a hotbox in hell for me.
Do these Barbie's really think we believe that crap.
Great poem-good swipe. Love it. I'm hooked. Jesus or no Jesus

Thanks, and glad you enjoyed this piece.
This is based on a true story? Did you ask her if Jesus made her a natural blond? I wish I was there, I wouldn't have stopped there. If Jesus can cure herpes, then there is hope for Medicaid.

It was pretty funny, in retrospect, and made for a great poem.
Not much to say except: This is great! Funny and sly, KL!

Thanks, I did have quite a bit of fun with this.
I think you express wisdom in the content, very much so. However, I think the poem as a whole would flow easier, and indeed read easier, with punctuation.

There's wisdom here, washed down with lots of fun! Excellent work... She seemed to appreciate the herpes cure... I wonder why she didn't trust Jesus enough that she had to go have "them" pressed and fluffed?

Yeah, it takes me back, that song. :)
Barbie works just as well.
It would be funny if it were not true...
I just don't get it sometimes.
Fitness of mind, body and spirit is ideal, but few of us really achieve this level of perfection in our lives. I guess I'll not judge either way here, but I guess we should all be mindful of how our actions and words are perceived and how hypocritical we can be.
Worth a chuckle. however. :)

It was a surreal experience, to say the least.
Say what you will it was mighty good of Jesus to do that for her, and that was a whole lot more than she'd ever get from workmen's comp, don't you know?
