empathetic insufficiency

empathetic insufficiency

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

for someone I know

"
When I was in school,
I learned about
pancreatic insufficiency
hepatic lipidosis
and renal failure induced
keto-acidosis.

I can learn all that,
but I can't figure
out what makes a
man lack the basic
human decency
to treat others
as he would be
treated; as my bible
tells me so --
I must forgive him
for his severe
empathetic
deficiency --

for he is one of
God's creatures
after all.

I had no clue where you were going with this reading that first stanza but then it made perfect sense and made its point loud and clear, although I'm sure said guilty party will never recognize himself....! And god must have been having a bad day....

Yes, usually the truly arrogant are too truly arrogant to see themselves for who they are.
