empathetic insufficiency

empathetic insufficiency

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

for someone I know

"
When I was in school,
I learned about
pancreatic insufficiency
hepatic lipidosis
and renal failure induced
keto-acidosis.

I can learn all that,
but I can't figure
out what makes a
man lack the basic
human decency
to treat others
as he would be
treated; as my bible
tells me so --
I must forgive him
for his severe
empathetic
deficiency --

for he is one of
God's creatures
after all.

Forgiveness and gratitude… it's a hard road to live. But, as Christians, we do so because, when we have undeserved forgiveness through His Grace, who are we to deny forgiveness to anyone else? And, having that Grace, how can we not go forward in all things with gratitude?

It is, and all we can do is try.

And keep turning to the Lord for forgiveness when we fail…
Nicely put.

I tend to be a very laid back, forgiving person. Sometimes I find myself at odds with myself though. I can forgive some of the bigger things, but hold grudges over trivial things. After much self-examination, I have yet to figure out why.

Still, bless the hearts of those who can find it within themselves to be forgiving.

Well written.

Good. I love that about this place. That is why I stick around.

Indeed. Inspiring others to write is a good feeling.
It takes a big person, confident in their own beliefs to be able to forgive and forget the transgressions of others. I like the way you contrasted the relatively complex topics that are understood with the inability to comprehend unsympathetic behaviour of others.

Thanks you nailed the point precisely
Understanding the Golden Rule is a matter of common sense, and not spirituality. The Golden Rule existed ages before any organized religions came into being. If the Golden Rule ruled the world instead of religious fanatics who war on each other in the name of their Ideal Personified Entity all would be well. If Spirituality needs to be fought over using diatribes, threats, and violent insurrections, then it must be an imposter. Perhaps God is the Golden Rule and common sense is the Holy Spirit?

Fine then but I won't like it.
Beautiful use of the language and you made your point. Hard to believe some people are humans. They seem to balance life on their need and goals. You taught me some new words. I like the terms used in the poem. Made the poem a interesting poem to read. Thank you for the outstanding poetry.

Yes it is sad there is a big amount of people
in this world that have no Empathy and could care less.

Then there are ones that do and are so sensitive
to others and things around them It can be a blessing
and a curse at times but for me I have learned to Accept
and love it, it Is a Gift from God that I can love so deeply and feel I
must Breathe it instead of wanting to Breathe Hate as I think
that would really kill me Literally it would harm anyone really.

Thank you for sharing this Wonderful insight. I enjoyed reading this.

This is enjoyable. There are some people that just leave us in awe of their lack of empathy. You've nailed it on the head! xo :)
