the amputation

the amputation

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

missing a vital organ

"
When you were a kid,
life removed a part of
you --

that never bothered me.

anyone can live
without a limb.

but you neglected to tell me
the nurses put the paint
in the wrong place,
and the surgeon
also took your
heart.

Reading this poem I can take away two different meanings. A person is resentfully heartless because of the loss of a limb. Or. "By the buster, that stump isn't your real problem."

I prefer to read the second.

The second interpretation is, in fact, what I intended. Oddly, the first did not occur to me. Thanks.. read more

Thanks so much I love your visits.
a sardonic smile, but such a serious message...

can live without a limb, but not without a heart...and if we do live, we really might as well be dead....

time to sue the surgeon.

Thanks, I appreciate your stopping in, again. :)
Good one! This is quit humorous. love it! and the surgeon also took your heart. He must be a very heartless man. I to am not sure about the paint.
