Reaped

Reaped

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

what sin would you commit to save yourself?

"
Reap what you sow
or possibly
what you did not.

Only I have to live
with what I
have done.

Revenge taken
on a sliding scale
of slippery whens.

I do not regret
I will not forget

In a land of compromises
this sin
was the right one.

Saving the end of me,
it was the one
to set me free.

Thank you for stopping by again.
i agree with Madalyn..."saving ourselves is self-preservation certainly not sin"

we do what we must to survive.

Fantastic! Saving ourselves is called self preservation, not sin. I am a fairly religious person and I don't understand how people can be so judgmental at times. BUT, to each his own.

You have outdone yourself with this one. I love the flow and how you have told the story. The best part, you said so much with so little.

Excellent work, my dear!! xo :)

I think one could do just about anything to save themselves, things they thought they were never capable of doing, even a necessary evil. Really loved this thought provoking poem. I will have to be by more.

Absolutely. Thank you, and I appreciate it.
Why do we let people point their bony fingers at us and tell us we have sinned. When all we did was try to get out of an unbearable situation.Loved this Kit Kat :)

Welcome M :))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
Despite what society might wish to make us think...saving ourselves is not a sin. Self preservation should never be confused with selfishness or being self absorbed. As you say you are the only one who has to live with what you do...and there in exists the difference. Fantastic writing as always hun...

Aww, thanks.
Hmm the sliding scale of sin, how thought provoking, as only you can do in so few words!

BOOM! I loved this from the very start it got inside of me and the title I was especially taken with because it is a very under the table word and not given much respect but you do pay for whatever you do. Great piece of work KL.

Aww, thanks :)
So, if the persona of the poem has done something that creates no remorse, no regret , where then is the sin? "Self love is not so vile a sin as self neglect." (W.S in Hank 5)

and once again, you have gotten to the heart of the matter precisely.
