counting road kills on the trip to freedom

counting road kills on the trip to freedom

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

yeah just what I said.

"
counting road kills
on the trip
to freedom,
imagining the trail
of broken hearts
and near misses
along the way.

the sum of all the
parts strewn on the
highway of her mind
on the way to add
another brick
to the wall;
a finality to it all.

you wouldn't like him,
and that is kind of the point.
he would growl; hackles up,
protecting his new home
from the enemy
he would
sense you to be.

the papers she signed
with a smile on her face
said "When you adopt a
dog, you are saving two
lives -- the one of the dog
you adopt and the one
who takes its place."

but in reality,
at least in her case,
it's three.

I wish but everyone's super allergic...but me....sigh. Hello friend how have you been? Writing as good as ever....better I would think. A different type of free. I'm glad to have read this first. And thanks for caring.

This poem does make sense. Adopting a pet does save more than one life. And they can become closer to us than anyone ever could.

Yes, thank you. And I am enjoying this new dog very much.
A loving tribute to a dear friend. Oh if we could trust our men like we do our dogs.
