take a mulligan

there are no take backs in life. Just ask Peggy Sue.

Rainy days are for wishing
she could take a mulligan
on a couple things.

then again,
ifs and buts
are not candies
nor nuts,
and as such,

the course of history
is forever altered by
crushing a butterfly ...

There are no take backs
in this life.

The good and bad are
inextricably linked.

I cannot undo you,
because that would undo them.

I cannot take a mulligan,
but I can take a shot
on a different course.

No do overs and that space time continuum is a tricky thing or so I have been lead to believe. We think sometimes that our life might be different had we to do it again...but who really knows, it could have ended up differently but not necessarily better. I like this one.

nicely weaved into this poem the mulligan idea...used to Caddy and played a lot of golf when i was younger so related to this metaphor quite well...no take backs with love...i also experienced that...
almost got a do over, but not quite.
