bending rules

bending rules

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

you will see

"
we try so hard to fake it,
as if not saying it will
make it unreal --
as if pretending will shield;
make us unfeel --

more than friending
a complicated dance,
a true blue unromance

making rules
meant for bending
two hearts meet,
opened for mending.

hidden messages
held for sending
doesn't matter what
either of us was intending

what both of us
were avoiding
is now impending ...

See all these hidden messages, they do my head. Why can't life and relationships just be easy peasy lemon squeezy? ;-P I LURVED this.

Thanks. It is easy, for some, those lucky few ...
Don't fall again. Don't fall again. Then you fall and there is no stopping it. Relationships seem to always keep hidden messages buried away, and when we find them, the impending doom comes rushing in through the lack of trust and belief in each other. Don't fall again. That was kind of how I read it. Fantastic work as always, KL! xo (:

Pretty much. If you get burned, you don't want to again, but probably will anyway:)
wow, a great write, very deep, full of meaning and fast paced!

Thank you so much, I appreciate you stopping by.
Why does it always have to be so complicated? Those 'hidden messages' are never so hidden after all is said and done...mend away, it'll do a heart good. :)

Life is complicated. We are crazy mixed up, wonderful, ugly, difficult creatures.:)

Chuckle away, my friend.:)
this poem describes my relationship now in a poetic heartbeat...neither looking but accidentally finding...guess it's karma, timing, who knows...but yes, rules are meant for bending... and we both broke the "i am not getting into another relationship" rule.

i like this...last line second stanza--not sure of the "an" just "a" would work fine there.

but a really musical piece...nice rhythm.

Yes, thanks, I was looking at that myself. I have to admit, I was half asleep and shouldn't have pos.. read more
I believe why so many relationships fail is people are not themselves in the beginning, They play these stupid games, follow dating rules and put on a facade to get the other person to like them. Eventually the real us comes out. That is why I do what I do and don't change for no one.

That thought is what your poem makes me think of, well written by the way.

You are correct, of course, and why we do this, who the hell knows?

I believe many do it cause the media tells them that is what they are suppose to do.
