you never were.

you never were.

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

it will become crystal clear as you read it.

"
The first shot,
pinned her to the floor,
anaesthetising her
with his poison,
drugging her with
his wicked tongue
and lying hands.

The second shot,
tore through her
muscles,
paralyzing her
with fear,
impairing her
ability to run.

The third,
should have been
a kill shot.
but to his surprise,
she got up,
and began to
walk away.

"You killed the
best part of my
heart, now eat it,
and be done.

Whatever is left
is not for you,
you never were
the one."

We always give part of it away. For better or worse. But we always save a little bit too. For next time.

I get this one. Big impact.

Thanks hon. The one thing I can say for my past misery, it made for some interesting poetry.:)

Yes. Sadly the tragedy provides some good material.
I love this...especially the ending. Very powerful. I love reading poems and stories revealing empowered, independent women...especially when they leave the man in the dust. Excellent writing!

Sounds like he didn't really get the best part of your heart at all KL. Just bruised it a little.. a wonderfully strong write. Loved how the end turns the shot and hits where it hurts, "you never were the one". Men always want you to think they are the one and you made him go away.. such bull crappy (must be aware of the word police alert alert, cuss word almost escaped; phew, got away just in time) thank you for sharing this poem KL. ~~ redzone

Thank you, and I appreciate that very much.
The will to survive kicks poisons a*s any day....love this KL. Some if us just keep getting up regardless of how many shots they take.

Damned rights girlie. And it will always be thus.
Cuts like a dagger, and the finish has gotta be even more painful...ouch!

Powerful with a bite! This is why I love writing. Words will always have more impact on someone than physical touch ever will. Fantastic! xo :)
