Pan's instrument

Pan's instrument

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

I was always scared of Pan.

"
Pan isn't a man
nor woman
she devil
might be
half beauty
innocent deer
the other half
human's unlikely kin

People think it is
a flute she plays
but it is really
a violin
made from the delicate gut
she ripped from
under kitty's
skin.

It's odd how Pan over the years, has been made out to be so approachable and innocent because of the likes of Disney. But if you study Pan's real past, you will discover him to be quite the sexual fiend.

The ending is twisted and ferked up. My kind of writing of course. lol

Yes, he scares the hell out of me.
I am a fan of those who can successfully integrate mythological stuff into poetry. Comical write, KL. Now, I'm having weird thoughts about other mythological characters, as well. :)

Thanks so much. I appreciate it.
This is very good, a mix of classical imagery and slang ( kitty) that make this impressive. Excellent.

I do appreciate that.
Wow, I loved the way you personified Pan here...you aren't alone in being creeped out by him. Even in the myths themselves, he (though you made him female which I thought was an interesting touch as well) he was considered creepy among his divine brethren...I attribute it to her power of seduction, coupled with the fact that she had hoofs, a defining characteristic of Satan as well...so for a mythology buff like myself, this is a truly significant piece and well done :)

Your description of Pan would scare me also. I like how you described one of the characters of myth. Thank you for the amazing poetry.

Ohh, the end has a pull, for sure...captured the primal essence and some innocence but you captured much much more to the ancient dweller...cunning piece, lured me right in x

Who wouldn't be afraid of Pan, really? They are a mercurial bunch. Love this more classical write with just a touch of whimsy at the end. Stay safe, Kitty.
