self fulfilling prophecy

self fulfilling prophecy

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

Sometimes people see what they want to see even when it's dead wrong

"
You  never were
mouse nor mole
nor sledgehammer
to me ...

makes me wonder
why when you
look in the
poet's mirror,
that is what you
see ...

and why when
you look at the
poet, a frenemy
is all you
see ...

sometimes
people create
what they want
to see

a self-fulfilling
prophecy.

Very true. I think we sometimes write ourselves into our poetry because we are afraid of who we really are. Some of "US (me)" write what we wish we were.

Great poem KL

Thank you so much. I hope so too.
"Sometimes people create what they want to see.."

The truth in that line is absolute. People create their own realities...and nothing you say or do will alter it. Kind of like banging your head into a wall if you try. The only thing we can do is move forward knowing the truth and leave those people to their own delusion!! Great write here KL.

and sometimes we completely miss love ---because we keep looking past it in the name of friendship.

Thanks so much. I am so pleased someone whose writing I so admire takes the time.:)
True sometimes we do just see what we want to see even when the truth is staring us in the face .
