a beautiful New Year

ahh I can be a sap every once in a while

She dances in confetti
ringing in the new
year in our chilly
living room
sparkling eyes
under the Christmas tree
Her sister smiles
and yawns they
finally made it
together.
Clasp hands and
run to the hill
smiling runny noses
my little one spits
just like me.
It makes me laugh
Not exactly lady
like you see.
Flying down the bumps
screams of terror
and delight
till exhausted we
collapse in our hot
chocolate -
It's a brand new day
a new year
our way.

chocolate" what a great image that conjures for me. One of familial love and making memories. These are the times we remember when we are old. Watching children do every day things like holding hands, giggling, and running.....and then coming back inside to the place they call home. Heavy sigh! So lovely. Lydi**

I remember the thrill of sledding and the taste of hot chocolate afterward. Hot chocolate never tasted so good. I enjoyed the upbeat poem and the structure reminded me of a sled run. ; )
