Lancelot revisited

Lancelot revisited

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

what you were to me

"
My Lancelot
you were
everything to me
and we thought
it would be forever
but it was not.
You have her now,
and I have stumbled
through the prickle bushes -
each man bleeding me to
suffer greater than the next
and more often than not
I find myself
thinking
of the first,
My Lancelot.

Here is another one i like; i was drawn to the title. Have you ever read Malory?? I have a very old copy of Le Morte d'Arthur i found in a used book store during my college days. I read it ever year for about ten or eleven years, along with the Lord of t Rings. lol classic material. I still try to read the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings once a year, if i can.
anyhow, this is a thoughtful piece and i enjoyed spending some time with it. thanks

I don't think we ever do forget our first love, do we? This is bittersweet and beautiful.

Lancelot. The purest of us all, he had fought many battles, won when the odds were against him. He had slain many foes, but he could not win the greatest of battles...true love was the battle he could not win.

Sometimes I wonder if Lancelot felt the same way after being let go by his guinevere.

I am pretty sure he did.
I think many of us often drift back to thoughts of that first love....and we compare current loves to him or her.

the first love is Camelot..after that it is as if we were tossed out of Eden...and everything after that is flawed. Nice analogy.
