t'were writ before

t'were writ before

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

digging in the closets of my former self - wow - there's a lot of weird crap in there!

"
from terrors in the night
does no one run
all were lies t'were writ before
so softly tiptoe past my bedroom door
make me not a woman
but a child again
we run from truth saying
tongues of fire
and prophesies
the salt in tears
make bitter the seas
that hardly we could hear
and make us sad.
what have you to say
of riddle and rhyme
and hunger?
and wish you were much
younger
knowing little of this world
and more of love.
this tale i've spun
is more than terror
and is known.

I consider myself privileged to be the very first to formally put in words my various perceptions (def - The interpretation of stimulus received via the senses, past and present)

My initial reaction was yep this one sits perfectly on the page. Okay, I can be fussy and even a little obsessional at times but this looked just right. Then it set me into a recollective spin, remembering some of my own personal night terrors, both real and imagined - Then of the many injustices I have encountered.

I think there is more covert power than force contained within these lines... But then if I dwell on anything too much, I can for a moment convince myself that black is white.

Finally, for what it might or might not be worth, not long ago I used the word writ in one of my as yet undisclosed poems & which is a word that my early version of Word refuses to accept exists, so ha. Very good touchingly rather than chillingly emotive and dark... N
