listening

I love wolves. What can I say?

Listening

On a moonlit path
in the woods
the leader smiles
an eerie smile

Tension builds
in the night air
anxious are the hunters
fearful the prey

A signal
unseen
unheard
shadow fast
they run
sharp as steel
fangs
and
death
no more cruel
than nature
itself

to the sky
furry muzzles
voices rise
echoes die

a man sits
somewhere
listening
the leader smiles

Personally speaking I love animals in general wild animals included wish I could just move around with them like a friend, but that is not something which is possible, unless I am the reincarnation of Mowgli. Now as for the poem itself. Again love the structure and the pace you have set in the poem. The way you have broken verses or jumped to the next line does a good job giving this write that pace it moves on. There's such beauty in the way you describe the wolves here. Especially the Alpha, i love it the way you mention it at the start and in the end as well. The imagery you have invoked in this read is again so sublime. The way you have compared the wolves with steal and nature is again good imagery and packs a powerful punch. All in all a very enjoyable read ^^ Thank you for sharing ^^
