Coffee

Coffee

A Story by Lyn Anderson
"

Satire? Humour? I don't know. I hate putting my writing in a box.

"
Something  I said to an online friend lately got me thinking.  There are two kinds of people in this world.  Those who like coffee, and those who don’t.  Coffee is really not a take it or leave it kind of thing like softdrinks or lemonade.  I like my coffee.  All kinds of it.  My favourite is strong and dark, and just hot enough not to burn my tongue, with just enough cream to take the bite out of it.  I can drink any and all sorts of coffee, but I do have my preferred brands.  Sometimes I just like to change it up a bit and have a cappuccino or a Turkish coffee.  When it’s a change it up kind of thing, it’s not that I like one over the other, but that sometimes different is just good.

But the thing is about coffee, without it, I am a b***h.  I am moody, have headaches, am out of sorts, and not at all myself.  At those times, just about any coffee  will do, weak, bitter, two day old, or the dreaded instant coffee.

There is such a thing as bad coffee, but the only thing worse than bad coffee is none at all.

Whether we call it coffee, chicory, or java, it is part of our lives. It is what we wake up to and what we want to hold tightly in a mug on a cold winter’s night. The infusion that wakes us up and smells like home. The aroma that brings us to a better place. Yes, that is coffee....and it deserves the tribute you give it here. Well written. Lydi**

Lol, I live with 3 ladies aged 18, 50, 76, not allowed to be offensive, they'd beat me up :)))
Coffee or sex.
Now there's a discussion.
Would you go to war over coffee?

:) ...you gave me a big smile Lynn! minus the cream we are of the same mind ... i have 2 in the early morning and maybe another in the late afternoon. the health benefits are emotional, spiritual and physical as you have so clearly pointed out ... the dreaded instant really makes me chuckle...it is our last reserve in case of runny out of the real ...but i must beg off of that "old" stuff ...just can not get more than a sip down and its off to the store for supplies ;) have missed seeing you around my friend .. busy i am sure!

Lyn Anderson,
When we want a nice hot cup of coffee it is not up for discussion but simply get it made! Here at home I make a mocha concoction of half strong coffee, almond milk, cocoa, raw sugar, tiny candy cane, dash of vanilla and dash of pumpkin pie spice. Nice to read your reviews and realize our commonality!Cute line' Coffee is not a take it or leave it kind of thing like soft drinks or lemonade.' Smiled my way through..................Blessings, Kathy

You are welcome, Muchly...:)......................
Coffee is my magical elixir. It wakes me up in the morning & relaxes me at night. It's anything I need it to be. I have bought friends coffee or coffee makers, becuz I can't stand to see a friend out of coffee (the worst possible thing I can imagine). I always have a variety to choose from & I like mine much like you've stated here so perfectly. I love this poem becuz it resonates on so many levels, yet it doesn't sound like anything ever written about this highly-prized bean.

I am such a coffee fiend, it's not funny. People laugh at me.
Somebody help me. No, hang on... I like it. Scratch that.
For me, it's short blacks all the way.
