Manic State II

Manic State II

A Poem by Amelia Wothe

Filled with crackling laughter
Bright and hot and dangerous
It's screaming for release
Hoping to burst out of my chest
And leave this charred mortal coil behind

Magnesium burning in my soul
Beautiful and strong but destined to die quickly
With just a pile of ashes as a tombstone

Hurricane whirling through my brain
Crashing over lifelines and lives
Yet having a heart in its eye so pure
An isle, a moment of peace, in the storm
