Say it to my Face

Say it to my Face

A Poem by amdc101

Behind my back
You snuck around
Whispering, Plotting
Tearing my heart out.

I can't trust you now.
I can't believe a word you say.

Go ahead and try to make it right.
It won't matter anyway.
So many times
I have felt like

I want to let it all out.

But I kept it inside.
I tried to be loyal.
I tried to be there for you.
But you really aren't worth it
If this is what you do.

It has happened
Again and again

But nothing that I said
Could have done half the damage as you did.

Never thinking of anyone else,
You only care about yourself.
Put yourself in my shoes
You wouldn't like it.

Maybe
You would finally understand.

But I can't.

I know it's true
You couldn't look me in the eyes.
The only secret I ever told you
Spread like wildfire.

So lie
to my face.
You really think I will trip again?
And let you in.

I'm sorry if I asked too much.
All I've tried to do is give.
But nothing ever comes back.
Why is that?

For once
Own up to your mistakes.

Say it to my face.
