Barefoot Summer's NightsA Poem by amdc101A fun glimpse back to summers when I was littleBarefoot Summer’s Nights The sun is a fiery ball of light Sinking lower in the sky But it is still warm And we take advantage Of the last hours of daylight Running through the grass Letting it tickle our toes On those barefoot Summer’s nights Come and get me We would say Chasing Running away Only to return To ride in circles Because we had nowhere to go On those barefoot Summer’s nights Laughter rang out Along with squeals of delight As finally it got dark And still we stayed outside Using sparklers To make the air into a blaze On those barefoot Summer’s nights Sitting around the fire Eyes beginning to close We said good night Contentedly licking our fingers clean Of every bit Of those barefoot Summer’s nights © 2011 amdc101Author's Note
