Why

Why do people judge? I couldn't answer that one. Hence the poem.

Why do you judge me

By my hair

By my clothes

By my looks?

Why should I wear makeup

To make myself feel pretty,

To be accepted?

Why should I need to do things to change myself

just to impress others?

Why do I need to agree

With things I don't believe in

Just to avoid funny stares,

Just to avoid the conflict?

Why should I blend in with the crowd?

Why shouldn't I be different?

Why do you judge me

By my looks,

And my abilities?

I am myself

I am real

I don't need to change

Just so I can feel included

If the inside me isn't worth your time

Then you aren't worth mine

If you don't like me

With messy hair

And no makeup

And different taste

You don't like me

And there is no need for me to change my mind

You are not better than me

I will not change

to feel accepted

So very true. I don't wear make-up and hide who I truly am. Some accuse me of being a Tom boy (which I am, that doesn't mean I'm Lesbo... Eww definitely not. Oops I just judged) and not girly girl which is "bad." As they say. :) A wonderful poem! I loved this! Good job and keep on writing!!
