Waking up to Winter

Waking up to Winter

A Poem by Avocations of Amber
"

My ice-laden porch was my inspiration this morning :)

"

Tears of Lady Winter

Turn to ice on planks of pine,

Like powdered sugar pebble stones

Beneath a chalkboard sky

A myriad of diamonds lie

Lackluster in dead grass;

Heaven’s mirror shattered,

Scattering bits of broken glass

And ice cold incantations

Skip, hopscotch, from cloud to cloud,

Lacing mountain laurel in a

Coconut-covered shroud

Until, a slit of sultry sun

Serves justice in each ray

Of ghostly golden God-light

Reaching down to melt the day

i thoroughly enjoyed this poem, as you captured Winter (reminds me of Norse Mythology: Skadi, i believe) -- as a Lady/Goddess. wonderful unique choice of words and the way you arranged them in each stanza is truly...chillingly, breath-taking! - brilliantly penned. thanks for sharing :)

There is such a brilliant enchantment that comes with winter's kiss of Earth... you've captured that beautiful elegance in frost so perfectly.

Aside from it actually being winter here, this read actually gave me a chill it was so vividly descriptive. A lovely piece, I really like this.
