Ticket to Tranquil

Ticket to Tranquil

A Poem by Avocations of Amber
"

Having just gotten over a cold, I long for more days of just sitting in this antique chair.....sipping my hot tea.....without a care in the world. :)

"

Long, sluggish day,

I say,

As I enter

the room where my rocking chair lives--

She patiently waits

In her pinstripes of plum,

For the moment

I visit and give.

To give of myself

On her cushions so quaint;

To think,

As I unload my day.

I rock back and forth

On her old, oaken legs.

She’s an oracle,

guiding my way.

She beckons me blindly

No words and no rules,

Just a minute to sit and surrender…..

To travel to “tranquil”

No cost and no fare;

A free ticket

To daydream

In my rocking chair.

your most welcome miss.
Such a delightful poem! Nice rhyming scheme and I really like how you personified the chair as someone who listens and allows you to think freely. when I was growing up, most homes had a rocking chair which no doubt served a similar purpose. Rocking can also relieve pain and so I wish they made a rocking wheelchair. lol

Ahh one of those quiet relaxing moments when the world falls away and our minds are allowed to drift freely in the directions we so choose.
