True Love Lies 'Neath the Willow Tree

True Love Lies 'Neath the Willow Tree

A Poem by Avocations of Amber
"

Fictional account of a love that time forgot......

"

True love lies ‘neath the willow tree

forever cloaked

in serenity.

Two lovers caught in clasps of fate

their partnered hearts

forbidden to mate

One look at her, his breath she took

soft, cherry lips

an innocent look

But time was not on either’s side

her heart he touched

in love’s foolish pride

In contrast to her skin of cream

his own tone bore

a hazelnut gleam

With plans to meet beneath their tree

they reached for stars

twilight ecstasy

Awakened by the hoods of white

both laid to rest

in flaming firelight

Their souls entangled in the clouds

their bodies here

in one earth-bound shroud

Under the weeping willow tree

eternal love

for both he and she.

Beautifully painted picture of how others intolerance can destroy beauty. No matter how far we reach the heights and achieve, there will always be intolerants trying to drag us back to the dark ages for one reason or another. Sickening this happened at all, but with people like yourself writing so beautifully about it, enough perhaps to make some pause for thought, then there will always be hope. And we all need that. Wonderfully penned

Whimsical and simply a nice write. I saw it as two young lovers who had their first encounter and left it where they found it or alternately, that love endured and after a life long love they were buried beneath the willow.
