This cup contains lies.

"

A short piece.

"

Although the cup was clean, fresh from the dishwasher a good 11 times before its present use, the taste of paint still lingers within its rim. You remember the colors flowing into a ripple of confusion as you dipped the brush in and out, painting strokes on a canvas page right next to the cup. Despite the fact you know better then to let your imagination run away with your sanity, you still feel like you are drinking paint, not iced water.

A fair warning awaits--do not use a coffee cup to hold your paint water, returning it after its use to the room known precisely as the kitchen. Months later, do not retrieve that same cup from the cabinet--you will regret it as soon as your lips touch the rim of that same cup. Obviously, this cup cannot serve two purposes within a lifetime.

I'm sensing a metaphore here... I like the imagery and the description in this piece, the way that you show the two lives of this sad little cup, or rather lucky little cup, to have lived two lives. Nicely written and thoroughly enjoyable.
