Keep Calm

Keep Calm

A Poem by ambur
"

rough draft

"
These drinks consume my body now--
And taking over my ever spewing mouth,
The liquid rebirths this fervent lust inside.
Keep calm, mind, for you'll give us away.

The drag I take, the poison I exhale--
And taking over my ever failing lungs,
The smoke covers my sinful malevolence.
Keep steady, heart, for you'll give us away.

The lies I breathe, the words I consume--
And taking over my ever decaying soul,
The secrets devour the last of my innocence.
Keep calm, darling, for you'll start to waste away.

Every addiction has its beginnings in pain, an effort to conceal the pain or to deaden the bright nerve endings flickering with hypersensitivity. Keep calm indeed. I enjoyed the read.
