The Magical WorldA Poem by Amber BergeronThis poem makes me proud to be a bookworm.
THIS MAGICAL WORLD
Lose Myself
Between the pages,
Been in this magical world
For ages.
Looking, touching,
Tasting, hearing,
For anything
That I should be fearing.
Surprises surround
Every turn,
Wonderful events
With new things to learn.
Characters full
Of charisma and sorrow,
Grief and hate
With hopes of tomorrow.
Stories of love,
Passion and grace,
With smiles of joy
That appear on each face.
Epic battles
Of magic and steel,
With clerics on the sidelines
Waiting to heal.
Flying around
On mighty dragons.
Or being transported
On plague victim wagons.
Swimming with mermaids,
Floating with faeries,
Digging with dwarves,
Surviving on berries.
Random adventures
To middle earth,
Or into wild country
To seek your worth.
Enemies and allies
Creating a truce,
And with a pinch of betrayal,
All hell breaks loose.
Challenging conficts
With greatly loved ones,
Siblings, spouses,
Fathers, sons.
Powerful displays
Of bravery and skill,
With many close calls
That can bring up a chill.
Unknown creatures
Lurking in the night,
Waiting to strike
Where there can be no light.
Friendship, love,
Happiness, hate,
Choosing which side
Determines your fate.
The secrets of prophecy
Leave your mind sore,
Make you wonder all day,
Triggering you to want more.
Romance, fighting,
Magic, mystery,
It can be anything
That you wish it to be.
Don’t be afraid
Unless you want it that way,
The book will consume you,
It is there you must stay.
Picture in your head
How you see the story
It’s all your opinion
You can take the glory.
Between the pages
Those looks on your face
The way they make you feel,
Your mind is filled with grace.
It’s not just some pages
Filled with thousands of words,
Only ever read by
Elders and nerds.
Whether you like the title
Or are caught on the hook,
It will always do you good,
To open a book and take a look.
