Under WaterA Poem by Amber RoseImagine if everything you thought Everything you said Everything you did Was tattooed on your skin Permanent, everlasting Everything Displayed in front of the world Scrawled out before them Like a handwritten letter The ink, it consumes your body Till all you are Is your actions Your thoughts Your words Would it be better that way? Being judged on your personality Rather than your looks In the end That’s all that it would do Expose people Force others to realize what they’re really like We use our appearances as facades The only ones scared Are the ones who have something to hide When positions reverse And it’s written in ink Into the gaps You thought were complete Inked or clean Scared or safe There’s only so much one can take Troubled and bent Not quite so perfect Tattooed on us Our history our past The real us sometimes present But not present enough to last Wear your heart on you sleeve Keep your head out of water’ Keep everything honest Because there’s always one waiting to pull you under -A.R. © 2013 Amber RoseAuthor's Note
