The Morning Before (Concious Conscience)

The Morning Before (Concious Conscience)

A Poem by Amber
"

Because Summer has nothing on me.

"
Your skin is my lost breeding ground
And I am your fast-feeding ground
And when we meet
Our souls, they flee
Scars, hell-bent on healing

There's meaning in your garbled speech
In miles measured by my flat feet
You're only one
And yet I'm stunned
By just how much I need you

Your words are my last last ditch effort
And I am cracking under pressure
You refuse to see
That I can't be
Your savior for forever

Your smile was my first conviction
A 6 by 9 for my condition
You set your traps
They go off fast
A perfect personification

You like the way my tremors keep time
I like the way you make me rhyme
I cough and spit
To prove you're unfit
Still you take my hand, and you lead me

And even when your rhythm's wrong
You'll find within you one more song:
"Your vulnerability makes you safe
Your trust, therefore, I'm bound to take.

I'll be all your moments and your balance and your truth
If you'll be my atonement and my talent and my youth.
Never did I blame you for the life you didn't choose,
Never did I tame you, for all you stood to lose."
