Sensation - S Portfolio Piece

Sensation - S Portfolio Piece

A Poem by amberinlove

Sensation

resting my palms on my stomach

imagining each cell where they touch each other, melting

sinking together as skin on skin then radiating

deeper into my true middle where there used to be

a person growing inside of me

the feeling of her hiccup, a kick, a flip

seems less a recollection, and more how I might imagine

envision it being a certain way, something that never happened

to me, and not a tangible memory

I try to reach for the exact sensation, but find only

her lying beside me, inconceivably more grown than she was then

there is an aching I cannot associate with any other longing my body has

ever had " to know that feeling again, to finally bring myself closer

at least more close than the last two times, but my palms

still glued to my stomach, and neither can reach past the other.
