Drowning.

Drowning.

A Poem by Amber S. Hays

The sun burns me with regret and yet the glow of it leaves me speechless.
These moments I throw towards the wind always seem to find their way back.
And the waves of the unmerciful sea beg for my life.
I dip my toes, and just like the soft touch by a lover, I’m in the water.
No looking back.
Face first the ocean kisses my face, and I instantly feel the sting of letting go.
The white of the waves peak sporadically, and broken shells find their way to shore.
There is no shelter for the broken. Only places where you find your shattered self.
