THE DREADED "C" (CANCER)

This is a true story about a classmate and a good friend I lost due to cancer. Her optimism has really moved me .

All of thirteen years was she

Jovial and full glee

Academically sound 

All loved her profound

Until the dreaded “C” entered

And life was all in tatters

From books to injections

From the play ground to chemotherapy sessions

Long raven like tresses vanished

 Still optimistic was she under the hair extensions

Each time she was asked “how do you?”

She said “I am Thankful and hope you are too”

Never a nag

 Never a frown

Never did she let her hopes drown

One night she slept never to awaken

Her sanguinity while fighting with the ailment has left me shaken

May she rest in everlasting peace

Sent chills through my bones. Such a terrible disease especially for a child to bear.

A sad yet inspiring story. it made me think about all the little things i worry and fret over. sometimes we forget how blessed we are........ but your friend is a wonderful person - being that optimistic with such an ailment is unthinkable - it was a very touching piece. may she REST IN PEACE.
