With love, An AGED Parent !

With love, An AGED Parent !

A Poem by Ambereen
"

Just a view point of someone who is writing a letter to her/ his child from an old age home

"

The hair has grayed

The eye sight is feeble

The memories of the past seem to fade

The feet are now tired of life’s journey

But my heart still yearns

To hear from you one last time my dear

How could you forget?

That each sunrise has a sunset

Even you shall grow old

How shall you like if one day you were told?

To leave your family for an old age home

Come back my child and take me along

For Life is too short for regrets to hold on

 WITH  LOVE ,

AN AGED PARENT

A very sad poem. Old age can't be stopped. I watch my dear Grandmother fall apart slowly. I wished everyday for her to be the same strong and busy woman. The complete poem was amazing. I like the way you ended the poem. Thank you for the outstanding poetry.

Ambereen,

Wow! You have touched many heart strings with this poem. My mother is 86 and beginning to need more assistance. My mother-in-law is very feeble and should be in an assisted living facility. However, we their children are trying to keep them in their homes for as long as we can. Most likely, when they need more intensive care, one of us will take them in. They have been caring people so they are receiving the rewards of that investment.

I have witnessed the exact situation which you so eloquently wrote about in your poem. Perhaps that individual was distant or careless in their relationships with their children, nephews, nieces or whomever is their family. However, I believe it is our duty to love and care for them regardless. It is not our duty to judge and punish them for their mistakes in the past. No, it is our duty to love and care for them until death do us part.

Great poem; well composed. Thank you for sharing this with us. It should be written somewhere where all can read it for future reference.

Aging cannot be understood except by the aged. You have presented the concept well and filled with with sentiment and meaning. Thanks for this one.

Thank you for your kind words
Its very sad. Old age is lonely. The worst in life comes at a time when they deserve the best. How I wish we did not have to age. You have written beautifully. Thanks.

I agree with David that the sentiment is quite touching. On top of that it is quite poetic as well as sincere. This really reached out to me, drew me in. I am trying a new style pf review so if you like it, please tell me.
MISTAKES: I don't really see mistakes here. I noticed that you capitalized Life in the last true line but I like that. It shows how definite life is. It has endings and stuff. I do feel like the "with love your" doesn't really fit together well. I would add a comma after love and move your down a line to rest before AGED. Those are merely opinion though.
EMOTIONS: This is sad. Death is oncoming, a driving force. The lights will soon stop glowing softly. All this parent wants is to see and speak to their child once more. They are holding on only long enough for the "child" to come. If not soon enough, never. Sad, so deep.
COMMENTS: I don't really have comments except that this is really well-written. Nicely and poetically penned!
Best regards,
Dell

Thank you .... And yes I love the new style of review
I like the sentiment...
However, many parents never built a loving relationship with their children. they "phoned in" being a parent and now they just get "phoned in" children. We often reap what we sow...
